Hadley Township Offices are

the east of Hadley Village.

Hadley Township is located in the southwest corner of
Lapeer County and lies at the base of the Hadley Hills.
Hadley is noted for it's beautiful rolling pastures of
farm land and peaceful country atmosphere. A small
community that is home to over 4500 residents holds
tightly to its heritage of natural settings and quiet
living. Hadley is Located within close proximity to I-69,
M-24 and M-15 making it easy to access surrounding
communities and work.
2003. The Township Offices provide administrative office space for the
Township Supervisor, Clerk, and Treasurer. The building also includes a
hall for public meetings of the Township Board, Planning Commission,
and Zoning Board of Appeals as well as for other public functions.
Located in the Village to the east of
Hadley Road, the old Town Hall is used
for small parties and rented by various
community organizations. For rental

The Hadley Township Library, which is pictured below to the right, is
located in Hadley Village at 3556 Hadley Road. Built in 1988, the library
offers more than 8,275 books, periodicals, videos, CDs, DVDs, and audio
cassettes for loan to the public, as well as providing Internet access. Special
offerings for children include a summer reading program, story hours, and
performances. The Hadley Township
Library is a Branch of the Lapeer District
Library, thereby giving Township
residents access to the collections of all
libraries in the district system. The
Lapeer District Library was established
January 1, 2003, pursuant to Act No. 24
of the Public Acts of 1989, as amended.
The participating municipalities are Lapeer County, The City of Lapeer,
Lapeer Township, Mayfield Township and Goodland Township. The
library's hours are from 11 AM to 8 PM on Monday and Tuesday, from 2 PM
until 8 PM on Wednesday and Thursday and 9 AM to 2 PM on Saturday. For

Police protection is provided to Hadley Township by the Lapeer County
Sheriff's Department and the Michigan State Police. Hadley Township has
one fire station, which is located on the west side of Hadley Road at the
south end of the Village. The building houses the department's 1999 pumper
tanker, 1994 pumper tanker, 1980 tanker, and 1986 4X4 grass rig.
Since Hadley Township does not have a water system, the tankers are vital
pieces of equipment. In 1994, the department also purchased a rescue unit,
which is used to transport equipment such as the "Jaws of Life" and oxygen
tanks. The Township recently received a grant to purchase a new pumper /
rescue truck. Hadley Township has a volunteer fire department composed of
24 firemen, of whom the Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain, and two lieutenants
are salaried. In total, the Township has 33 firefighters and first responders.

the site. Hadley Acres Golf and
Country Club is a public, 18-hole
course located at 3797 Hadley Road,
to the south of Hadley Village.

Road, north of Snook and south of

In October 2002, two residents of Hadley Township donated the old Hadley
Mill to the Township. The site was dedicated as the Hartwig Community
Park during the summer of 2003. The park is located to the east of Hadley
Road, in Hadley Village. Pictured at the top of the page is the park's covered
bridge. The Hartwig Community Park now has a new pavilion for Township
residents to use for family functions. Any and all requests for using the
facility are to reserve it at the Township Offices on 4293 Pratt Rd. Hadley,
the 75-acre parcel to the Great Lakes Bioregional Land Conservancy, a
non-profit educational organization. Ortonville Recreation Area is a
5,400-acre state park located in the Township's southwest quadrant. The
park affords the following recreational opportunities: fishing, boating,
hunting, swimming, picnicking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, cross-
country skiing, and mountain biking. In addition, the park has playground
equipment, a volleyball court,
horseshoe pits, a rustic cabin,
which sleeps 20, and an equestrian
campground. The 723-acre
Metamora-Hadley State
Recreation Area is located in
northeast Hadley Township. Park
users can swim, fish, ice fish, and
rent paddleboats on 80-acre Lake
Minnewanna, which dominates
the center of the park.

Additionally, 224 campsites ring the lake. Other available activities at the
Metamora-Hadley Recreation Area include hiking, picnicking, hunting,
snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. In addition to the parks and
recreation facilities outlined above, the Lapeer Community School District
and private property owners also contribute to the number of recreation
facilities available in the Township. Hadley Baptist Church has one baseball
available for use. Playground equipment at Emma Murphy includes monkey
bars, swings, balancebeams, and climbers.
Hadley Township is served by four school districts: Lapeer, Goodrich,
Brandon, and Oxford. More than half of the Township is in the Lapeer
in nearby Metamora Township. Emma
Murphy serves students in grades three
through six, as well as some second
graders.
Community School District, while the
western portion of the Township is in the
Goodrich Community School District. A
small area of the southeast corner of the
Township is in the Oxford Community
School District and the Brandon Schools service most of the Township's
southwest corner. The Emma Murphy School, is located at 1100 Pratt Road
